“Trevor Mania” is now in FULL swing in the area… Bluffton High School graduate Trevor Bassitt is now in Paris to run the 400-meter-hurdles in the 2024 games, and fan support here is growing at a fevered pitch! [*Incidentally, Bassitt is not just representing BHS, but all of the Northwest Conference – with schools like Ada, Allen East, Scioto Valley…] What’s more, the last Olympian from the general area, who anyone can seem remember, is an Allen County Sheriff who competed in the “50m Pistol” event in the 1936 Games. Doing the math, that’s close to 90 YEARS AGO! That’s how BIG this Trevor thing is! And this is not lost on Blufftonites, especially Lynda Hursey Best, who has taken the bull by the horns, or rather by the metaphoric bullhorn, and mounted a drive for Trevor/ Olympics yard signs, banners, etc.
