If you haven’t noticed, Ada, Ohio now has a “Town Crier,” of sorts. A town crier, incidentally, for those of you under, say, 110, is a person employed by a town council to make (loud) public announcements in the streets.
“Sometimes you feel like a nut and sometimes you don’t” was a classic TV commercial in the 1970s advertising for the candy bars, Almond Joy and Mounds. Mounds is dark chocolate- covered coconut, while Almond Joy is milk chocolate-covered coconut with almonds. Mounds was introduced in 1921 and Almond Joy did not hit the market until 1946. Mounds was popular with the U.S. Military during World War II, which they purchased for soldier rations.
Award-winning writer, artist, illustrator and naturalist David Allen Sibley will be the featured speaker for this fall’s Terry Keiser Distinguished Lectureship in the Life Sciences at Ohio Northern University.
ADA — On September 10, Tom Lehman, Ada resident, and Air Force Veteran, joined the Flag City Honor Flight’s third flight of the year to Washington, D.C. When asked about his trip, Lehman explained that he and another area resident had applied over a year ago to join the flight.
