Snider wins Ohio Farm Bureau 2025 Excellence in Agriculture award

COLUMBUS — Derek Snider of Hardin County is the winner of Ohio Farm Bureau’s Young Agricultural Professionals 2025 Excellence in Agriculture competition. The award, announced Feb. 8 at the Young Agricultural Professionals Winter Leadership Experience, recognizes successful young agricultural professionals who are actively contributing and growing through their involvement with Farm Bureau and agriculture.

Ada’s Keller-Clark Jefferson Award winner for ‘Sole Mission’ work

ADA — An Ada police officer is now associated with the likes of Ceaser Chavez, Oprah Winfrey, former President Jimmy Carter… to name just a few. Penny Keller-Clark has just been nominated locally within a five-county area, for a Jefferson Award, which is colloquially referred to as the “Nobel Prize for Public Service.” (Chavez, Winfrey, Carter have all been Jefferson Award recipients over the years.)

The Van Trump Report

Many farmers subscribe to the (Kevin) Van Trump Report . Last week, Kevin and I were in Peoria, Illinois speaking. Here’s a free summary of Kevin’s thoughts on the farm economy. First, Kevin came from a small Missouri farming community. He worked as an NFL football assistant coach. He’s a big (large) man, with a huge personality! He’s fun and mostly optimistic about agriculture. Then he started working at Chicago Board of Trade buying and selling commodities.
