FINDLAY — Hardin Northern’s Andrew Sutton finished 27th Saturday at the Van Buren Black Knight Invitational at the Owens Community College Saturday. Sutton finished 27th to lead his team as he ran a time of 18:55.03.
MT. BLANCHARD – The visiting Ada boys soccer team lost a high-quality 3-2 nailbiter on grass at North Central Ohio Soccer Association foe Riverdale Thursday evening.
ADA – The Ada volleyball team played perhaps its best match of the season but came up just short to visiting Arlington in a five-set Blanchard Valley Conference thriller Wednesday evening. The Lady Bulldogs fell to 6-6 overall and 2-3 in the BVC after the heartbreaking 2527, 25-16, 25-20, 24-26, 15-8 defeat.

For those who say they do not love to read, they probably just haven’t found the right book yet. One way to be exposed to different literary styles and authors is to be part of a book club. ADA — This month there have been developments in America First Legal’s lawsuit against Ohio Northern University on behalf of Dr. Scott Gerber; both parties agreed to mediation, but the process failed to resolve the lawsuit and it will now proceed to trial.
On Friday, September 20th, Hardin Northern held two major celebrations that evening at the varsity football game field. The first celebration was to honor the 20 year anniversary of Hardin Northern’s football state championship. All players, coaches, and their family members of the the 2004 state championship were invited to attend and received free admission Also on Friday, Hardin Northern dedicated the new football field to long-time, hall of fame coach Pete Brunow. From Friday on, Hardin Northern’s field will be named Pete Brunow Field. All former players, coaches, students, friends, and family were invited to come celebrate the contributions that Coach Brunow has given to Hardin Northern and the football program.
Scurvy is usually associated with pirates since sailors were susceptible to scurvy. In a January 10, 2022 article published in the Military Health System news, author Janet A. Aker reports 2 million sailors died of scurvy between the 16th and 18th centuries. Historians have documented scurvy as causing most suffering throughout history related to vitamin deficiencies.
Average gasoline prices in Ohio have risen 18.1 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.08/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 5,345 stations in Ohio. Prices in Ohio are 15.6 cents per gallon lower than a month ago and stand 43.4 cents per gallon lower than a year ago. The national average price of diesel has declined 2.1 cents in the last week and stands at $3.55 per gallon.
The 38th Annual Harvest & Herb Festival Parade featured, yet again, a tremendously wide variety of parade vehicles, marching bands, a HUGE beehive float (I’m not making that up! *See photo.), H & H Festival Queen Royalty, Bulldog youth football players, and a Bulldog mascot that had to be just DYING in that heavy costume! The parade also featured souped-up Corvettes, old-fashion farm tractors, colorful clowns on mini-bikes, fire engines, ambulances, and politicians walking alongside campaign vehicles – trying to buy virtually everyone’s votes – by tossing LOTS of candy. (*My favorite were the mini-Kit-Kats!) In fact, there was so much candy thrown out during the course of the parade, that sugar overdoses throughout the village could, indeed, be on the upswing this week.
