Defiance College Golf Schedules

DEFIANCE – The Defiance College golf programs have announced their respective schedules ahead of the fall 2024 campaign, the athletic department announced on Thursday. The men’s program will feature five fall events with a pair to be played in Indiana with three others at Michigan courses.

Ohio Weekly Gas Price Update

Submitted Information Average gasoline prices in Ohio have risen 9.2 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $3.56/g today, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 5,345 stations in Ohio. Prices in Ohio are 2.5 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and stand 7.6 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.

Ohio wetlands projects announced

Tthe U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is excited to announce two Ohio coastal projects will receive funds through the North American Wetlands Conservation Act grants. These projects have been selected to receive $3 million each in grant awards, coupled with a total of $13.6 million in matching funds.

In 1937, artist Joe Grant pitched an idea to Walt Disney about making a movie inspired by his English Springer Spaniel named Lady. His plot would be based on how the family dog may receive less attention when a new baby was in the house. The plot and the movie struggled through many iterations at Disney before being released as Lady and the Tramp on June 22, 1955. This movie has an iconic scene where Lady and Tramp share a plate of spaghetti and end up kissing at the end of the same noodle.

PHIL II NICHOLS

Phil II Nichols, age 69, of Ada, passed away at his residence on Saturday, July 27, 2024. He was born on June 7, 1955 in Lima, Ohio to the late Phil and Evo Erleen (Allen) Nichols. On August 27, 1982, Phil married Sherill R. Moore and she preceded him in death on March 17, 2022. Phil is survived by his four children: Alicia Hogan of Miami, OK, Howard Hogan of Grove, OK, Russ (Nichole) King of Lima and Sarah (Rollin) Carver of South Carolina; seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren; two brothers: Harvey Andrew Nichols of Bryan and Billy Joe Nichols of Mendon; and a sister, Sarah Cunningham of Mendon. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Haden Nichols. Phil worked for LUNA Local #329. He was a veteran in the U.S. Marines. It was his wish to be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
