USV traveled to Marion Catholic on Friday night, and proceeded to win their first league contest 62-54. USV improved to 1-3 (1-0 NWCC) with the win. The Fighting Irish fell to 2-3 (0-1 NWCC).
Senior Tommy Prater posted 21 points in the game for the Rams, followed by fellow senior Derek Mullett with 16.
"We battle and scrape for everything we get," noted Head Coach Aaron Thompson. He added that the long bus ride, the JV game that went into overtime, and other things wore on the Rams, but was glad for the league win.
USV: Rhys Rose 13, Derek Mullett 16, Brandon Overs 5, Tyler Shepherd 3, Tommy Prater 21, and Ryan Sparkman 4. Three-pointers: Shepherd (1) and Mullett (4).
The USV JV team were edged by Marion Catholic 46-45 in overtime.
