Prasher named Ohio Northern University's director of alumni relations
ADA - Sarah N. Prasher has been named Ohio Northern University's director of alumni relations, effective June 1. Prasher, who has served as associate director of alumni relations since 2010, replaces Ann Donnelly Hamilton, who has been appointed executive assistant to the president.

Hardin Northern students compete in State Envirothon
DOLA - One hundred students representing each area of the state from 17 high schools and 20 teams competed at the 2013 Ohio Envirothon, which was held held at Deer Creek State Park, June 10-11. The Ohio Envirothon is a competitive outdoor team event designed to stimulate, reinforce and enhance interest in the environment and natural resources for high school students. The annual event is an outdoor academic competition that tests students' knowledge of soil and land use, forestry, wildlife, aquatic ecology and current environmental issues.

Task Force traffic stop results in trafficking arrests
HARDIN COUNTY - The Hardin County Crime Task Force conducted a traffic stop on St Rt 292 in the south eastern part of Hardin County on Thursday afternoon. As a result of this stop the Task Force seized 281 hits of heroine, $1300 in cash and one vehicle. One male was arrested for trafficking in illegal drugs with another male and female being arrested for outstanding warrants along with additional trafficking charges pending on them. The Task Force was assisted in the stop by Deputies from the Hardin County Sheriff's Office and the HCSO canine unit.

Hardin County Rainfall Report
HARDIN COUNTY - For the time period of April 15 through May 31, Extension rainfall reporters recorded an average of 4.92 inches of rain in Hardin County. Last year, the average rainfall for the same time period was 4.87 inches. Rainfall for the April 15-May 31 time period is 1.69 inches less for the time period than for the ten year average rainfall during the same dates.

Two car accident blocks State Route 81
ADA - A two car accident closed down a portion of State Route 81 Thursday afternoon. The wreck occurred at the intersection of 81 and County Road 15 sending one driver to St. Rita's Hospital by Life Flight. The second driver was treated at the scene. Further details are unknown at this time.

First Hardin Northern Hall of Distinction class to be honored Saturday
DOLA - Hardin Northern, Dola, and Dunkirk have many outstanding alumni who have used their education and experience to become successful, positive contributors to society. The Hardin Northern Hall of Distinction has been established to recognize and showcase outstanding graduates while giving current students solid examples of what they can accomplish in life from adults who sat in the same seats and walked the same halls as they do. This year, the first year for this award, three have been selected for induction into the Hall. These three individuals will be inducted as a part of the Hardin Northern Graduation Ceremony on Sunday, June 2, at 2 pm in the auditorium.

ADA - Representative Bob Latta will conduct a seminar, in conjunction with the FBI's Counterintelligence Division and titled "Combating Cyber Crime: How to Protect Your Identity and Business Online," in Ohio Northern University's Dicke Forum on Friday, May 31, at 9 a.m.

Summer Sounds Choral Camp
ADA - Summer Sounds Choral Festival, the camp for children who love to sing, is a half-day choral experience for rising second through eighth graders where they learn choral repertoire and performance techniques; develop their musical skills through movement and music games; and have special classes with Orff-Schulwerk instruments.

HARDIN COUNTY - Commencement ceremonies were held for Ada and Upper Scioto Valley High Schools over the weekend. Hardin Northern and Allen East high schools will honor their classes of 2013 on Saturday, June 1.

Shots fired during drug bust at Ada Express Mart
ADA - At least one shot was fired during a Hardin County Task Force bust on suspected drug activity Wednesday afternoon at Ada Express Mart. According to Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart, the shot was fired by a sheriff's deputy. No one was injured during the incident. An investigation is still underway at this time.

Hotdog Days support Relay for Life
ADA - On May 17, employees of Liberty National Bank provided hotdogs, chips and water outside the Ada Office. During this time, they were also accepting donations to Hardin County Relay For Life. They collected over $250 in donations. Liberty National Bank would like to thank the community for their support in helping find a cure for cancer!

REYNOLDSBURG - Ohio First Lady Karen W. Kasich and Ohio Agriculture Director David T. Daniels today announced they are accepting nominations for the 2013 Ohio Agriculture Women of the Year Awards. The award program is administered through the Ohio Department of Agriculture and the Office of the First Lady.

ADA - Figures released by Ohio Gov. John Kasich's office show the Hardin County area could see nearly $300,000 returned to the county if his proposed revamping of the Bureau of Workers' Compensation program is approved.
