Health Trends named a Top 100 Dealer for U-Haul

By Virginia Bandy
Ada Herald Editor

Health Trends in Ada has been given an award from U-Haul as a Top 100 Dealer in the company for the month of January, 2010. Health Trends is the only U-Haul dealer in Ada and only one of two dealers in Hardin County. Owner Bob Seymour said he has only been a dealer for U-Haul since October of last year, and does see a lot of business from ONU students, but in January, it was for other reasons. Seymour also noted that before another dealer started up in Kenton in February, he was seeing more business from the Kenton area.

Area Field Manager David Compton was in Ada last week to present Seymour with his certificate, and explained that in order to achieve the level of a Top 100 U-Haul Dealer, several areas are examined. The most important is customer service, as customer reviews are used in the process. Other variables include the percentage of customers who choose the insurance; sales volume; the cleanliness of the equipment; the signage on the dealer's property and in the windshields; and displays inside the business.

Seymour expressed that less than two percent of the U-Haul dealers achieve this status and joked that he may get it again in May when the ONU students leave. He stressed that it is important to make reservations for trucks and trailers early. U-Haul prefers to keep its inventory "on the road" and not sitting in lots, so if you call up and expect a truck to be waiting for you, more than likely it won't happen.

"The farther in advance you can plan, the better," Seymour said. "U-Haul runs a tight ship to keep costs down."
