Sixteen adults completed the nine-month program and received their graduation certificate. They were joined by their sponsors and guests for a delightful meal prepared by Chef Todd at The Inn.
Don Castle presented the "Reflections" for the Class of 2009. He focused on the new knowledge gained from the program as each session contributed experiences that would be useful in work or community settings. "The opportunities are many to step-up and make a positive difference here in Hardin County," stated Castle.
Dr. Jim Bowser, superintendent of the Upper Scioto Wind/Energy Academy and USV Schools Special Projects Coordinator, was the evening's guest speaker and shared the "Green Energy Project" story. "This kind of opportunity only comes along once in a lifetime. I compare it to the onions on the marsh in 1934. People came from miles around to see and work these fields. I think the clean energy will bring people to Hardin County."
The sponsors of the Class of 2009 were recognized for their contributions to the program. Organizations and businesses included the Hardin Leadership Steering Committee/Haushalter Memorial Scholarship, Kenton Rotary Club Scholarship, BKP Ambulance District, Hardin County Municipal Court, Ohio Hi-Point Career Center, Steve Christopher, Mary Lou Johnson Hardin County District Library, Hardin County Council on Aging, Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance, Hardin County Homemakers Council, Liberty National Bank, Ada Technology, AgCredit, Gold Giant Inc., Family and Children First Council and Bridgebuilders, and Common Joe Like Me (Darrell Bodine)/Hardin Leadership Alumni Scholarship and Soroptimists.
