MT. BLANCHARD - Host Riverdale shut out Ada 2-0 in the Div. III boys soccer sectional semifinals Monday evening at Mount Blanchard, ending the Bulldog season.

Their second 2-0 loss at the Falcons within a seven-day span left Ada with a final record of 4-12-1. Last week, Riverdale scored two second half goals to blank the Bulldogs.

On Monday, the hosts tallied a pair of first half goals eight minutes apart to provide the margin of difference. Falcon Corbin Knedler broke open the scoreless bout shortly past the midway point of the first half with an unassisted goal, and that is all they would turn out to need.

Then with about 10 minutes to go in the half, Falcon Jackson Hankin scored to make it 2-0. The strong Riverdale defense held onto the lead and shut out the Bulldogs over a scoreless second half to advance to the second round.

The Falcons put 13 shots on goal while Ada had none. Bulldog senior goalkeeper Tate Anspach was credited with 11 saves to add to his school career save record.

Third-seeded Riverdale (10-5-2) hosts top seed Liberty-Benton (15-0-1) in the sectional finals Saturday at 11 a.m. The survivor advances to the Tiffin district semifinals Oct. 22.

Last Saturday, Alex Ehora scored three goals to pace host Lima Senior to a 4-0 non-conference boys soccer win over Ada in the regular season finale.
