WAPAKONETA — Hot-shooting host Wapakoneta drained 13 three-point goals to defeat Ada 81-62 in a makeup non-league boys hoop contest Tuesday night.
The Redskins snapped a 10-game losing skid and improved to 2-13 with the win, while the Bulldogs dropped to 4-10.
Wapakoneta jumped to a 21-9 first quarter lead but a big Bulldog second period pulled Ada within 43-34 at intermission. Yet Wapak put together a 22-13 third period to lead comfortably by 18 entering the fourth quarter, and cruised to the win.
Kenton Metz drilled four triples and tallied a game-high 25 points for the Redskins. Jarrett Koch canned five treys for all 15 of his points while Adam Henderson added 14 points for the hosts.
Senior Austin Dumbaugh led Ada with 16 points while sophomore Blake Willeke contributed 15 markers. Freshman Owen Conley drilled a pair of treys and scored seven points for the Bulldogs. Grant McBride added nine points.
Ada knocked down 22 of 30 foul shots (73 percent) while Wapak converted 12 of 16 from the charity stripe (75 percent).
The Redskins sank 28 field goals to 16 by the Bulldogs.
