NEW KNOXVILLE - The Ada boys basketball team fell 55-39 at New Knoxville Saturday night in a non-league bout.

Their third road defeat in five days dropped the Bulldog cagers to 2-6. Meanwhile, NK evened its mark at 4-4 with the victory.

Junior Ethan Swaney led the Bulldogs with a career-high 14 points. Senior Jordan Bailey contributed 10 points.

NK methodically ground out the victory, winning each quarter. The Rangers knocked down 21 free throws in 34 tries, including 14 of 19 in the fourth quarter.

NK led 11-7 after one period and 24-17 at the half. The hosts then put the game away with a 31-22 second half. Ranger Timmerman converted all eight of his charity stripers in the fourth period.

The Rangers canned just one more field goal than Ada, 15-14. The Bulldogs attempted 13 foul shots and hit on eight.

The Ada reserves won the JV contest, 37-23. Bulldog sophomore Cade Mullins led all scorers with 13 markers. Teammate Justin Light added seven points.

Ada, who is 1-3 away from home, visits tough Perry (6-3) Tuesday, January 10 in a makeup battle. The Bulldogs (0-2 NWC) return to league play next Friday, Jan. 14 against league-leading Spencerville (8-1, 2-0 NWC).
