McCOMB - McComb hurler Kristin Buck pitched a no-hitter to beat visiting Ada 8-1 Tuesday in a non-league softball game.



McComb improved to 5-2 with the win while the Lady Bulldogs fell to 2-3 with the loss.

Ada took a short-lived 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning. Buck made a throwing error on a grounder back to her hit by Alexis Gonzaga.

Trista Douce bunted her to third base, and Gonzaga then score don a wild pitch to take a 1-0 lead.

The Lady Panthers then plated five runs in the bottom of the second to take control.

Buck retired the next 11 Bulldog batters in a row before hitting Cosette Brodeur in the fifth frame. She then retired Ada in order in the sixth and seventh innings to finish the no-hitter.

McComb added a single run in the fourth and two more in the sixth.

Breeanna Dee hit a two-run homer for the Panthers.

Buck struck out 10, walked one and allowed no earned runs to earn the victory.

Ada opens Northwest Conference play Thursday at backyard rival Allen East.
