TIFFIN — Ada senior speedsters Brittney Archer and Matthew Wilcox each qualified for the Ohio state track and field meet in two events with strong performances at the Div. III regional meet in Tiffin Friday.
A top four finish in an event at the regional event qualifies an athlete for the state meet in Columbus this Friday and Saturday, June 6-7.
Archer also made it to the state meet in the 100 and 200 last spring. She finished third in the 200 meters (25.99) in Friday's finals, edging USV rival Brittany Holbrook, who took fourth (26.08).
The two switched spots in the 100 meter dash, with Archer fourth (12.77) and Holbrook third (12.7).
Wilcox competed in three final events. He took third in the 200 meters (22.95) and fourth in the 400 (50.06) to make it to Columbus again.
He also finished seventh in the 100 meters (11.79).
Promising Ada sophomore Carlee Marshall finished seventh in the long jump (16-0.25), which was won by Holbrook, and tied for seventh in the high jump (4-10).
Upper Scioto Valley's George Bauer and Holbrook both won a regional championship.
Bauer won the regional championship in the 400 dash in 49.35 and Holbrook won the long jump title with a leap of 16-9 1/4.
Hardin Northern junior Mackenzie Shepherd finished third in the pole vault to advance to state. She cleared 10-0 to qualify for state.
Allen East picked up one state bid as they finished third in the 1600 meter relay in 3:26.83. Running this event for the Mustangs were Evan Thomas, Logan Rex, Chris Kleman and Matt Shuey.
The Lady Mustang 4x400 team finished eighth in 4:18.5. Running this event for the Mustangs were Savannah Silone, Sadie Kirkendall, Aubri Woods and Lindsi Woods. Lindsi Woods also finished eighth in the 400 dash in 101.67.
The Rams Hunter Howard finished eighth in the high jump clearing 6-2.

Defiance Tinora beat out 40 other teams to win the girls regional title with 71 points, easily outscoring second-place Liberty Center (50) and Columbus Grove (47). 
The Ada girls finished 20th with 14 points. USV came in 11th with 22 points. Allen East tied for 38th with two.
Tiffin Calvert out-pointed 41 other schools to capture the boys team crown, nosing out Archbold 60-57. 
The Ada boys ended up 19th with 13 points. USV was 21st with 11 points, and AE came in 30th with six.
