DELPHOS - The Ada softball team got back on the winning track with a
convincing 10-4 win at Delphos Jefferson Thursday night in the Northwest
Conference regular season finale.
The victory upped the Lady Bulldog record to 4-13 and they finished 2-7 in the NWC, while Jefferson remained winless at 0-15 (0-9 NWC).
The win snapped a 10-game losing skid for Ada, including seven in conference play. They beat LCC in their NWC opener.
Sophomore hurler Alexis Amburgey tossed a complete game five-hitter, allowing just two earned runs while striking out five and walking four.
Ada senior Sam Wildman pounded a triple, singled and drove in two runs to pace the offense. Senior Kendra Paul smacked a triple, doubled and drove in a run.
Junior Ashley Windle contributed a double, single and three runs batted in. Junior Alexis Gonzaga smacked an RBI double. Senior Cosette Brodeur and Kaylee Spangler each knocked in a run, and Quinn High added a single.
Ada jumped in front with two runs in the top of the first and never trailed. DJ halved the deficit with a run in the second, but the Bulldogs extended the lead to 5-1 with two scores in the third and one in the fourth.
A four-run Ada fifth inning put the game out of reach at 9-1. Jefferson plated three runs in the sixth inning but it was too little, too late.
The Bulldogs added a run in their final at bat to provide the final margin of victory.
