ADA - County foe Kenton came to Ada Wednesday and beat the Lady Bulldog soccer squad 3-0 to spoil their home opener.
The loss dropped Ada to 0-2.
The Lady Wildcats led 2-0 at halftime following goals by Tori Barrett (21:26) and Kelsey Erwin (7:24). Jenna Moore netted the lone second-half score with 6:47 remaining.
Rielyn Castle made five saves in goal for the Bulldogs. Kenton put eight shots on goal compared to two by Ada.
"Our girls played a lot better than in the opening loss to Riverdale," said coach Marty Clum.
Last Saturday, Riverdale shut out visiting Ada 13-0 in the season opener.
"We are still trying to unify," Clum noted. "We still have a long ways to go, but we're showing signs of improvement. We are a young team with 14 freshmen and sophomores, so that has put us a little bit behind the eight ball.
"The girls are working extremely hard," he continued. "We have some girls stepping up into leadership roles and playing with more confidence."
