COLUMBUS GROVE - Host Columbus Grove broke a 2-2 tie in the fifth and beat Ada 7-2 in a Northwest Conference softball game Thursday evening.
The loss dropped the Lady Bulldogs of Ada to 3-7 and 1-3 in NWC play. Grove improved to 7-2 and 3-0 in the league with the victory.
CG scored three runs in the fifth to take a 5-2 lead. They then plated two more insurance tallies in the sixth to build a five-run lead.
Winning pitcher Bobbi Heckel struck out six and scattered five hits. She also aided her own cause with an RBI double. Kyrah Yinger contributed a run-scoring triple while Hope Schroeder smacked a two-run double. Kara Birkemeier added an RBI single.
Alexis Amburgey pitched a complete game for Ada, allowing just one earned run and striking out four. Grove managed only four hits but nine Ada errors doomed the purple and gold.
Sam Wildman hit an RBI single for Ada. Amburgey, Ashley Windle, Alexis Gonzaga and Trista Douce added the other hits, all singles. Cosette Brodeur collected the other run batted in for Ada.
Grove led 1-0 after one inning, but Ada took a 2-1 edge with single runs in the second and third frames. Grove tied it 2-2 with a run in the bottom of the fourth.

Ada is slated to host Arlington in a non-league contest Friday at 5 p.m.
They resume NWC play at home vs. Paulding Monday.
