WESTERVILLE — Senior Josh Colbert posted third place finishes in the long jump and 60-meter dash to lead the Ohio Northern men's indoor track & field team to a fifth place finish at the All-Ohio Championships Saturday at Otterbein.
The Polar Bears (26-5 overall) finished fifth out of 19 teams with 49.5 points.
Mount Union won the team title with 132.5 points, Ohio Wesleyan was second with 93 points and Otterbein was third with 65 points.
Colbert finished third in the long jump with a leap of 22' 7 1/4" and was third in the 60 in :06.98.
ONU's 4x400-meter relay team of sophomore Christian Rupe, freshman Patrick Jeffries, senior Evan McKee and junior Jonathan Roseler posted the squad's lone victory of the day, winning the final event of the competition by nearly three seconds in 3:23.47.
Roseler also posted a third place finish in the 400 dash in :49.97.
Junior Ryan Brancheau tied for fourth in the high jump by clearing 6' 4 1/4".
Junior Kyle Wagner and freshman Aaren Hemmelgarn each posted fifth place finishes in distance events.
Wagner was fifth in the 1-mile run in 4:26.05 and Hemmelgarn was fifth in the 3,000-meters in 8:56.79.
Rupe was sixth in the 200-meter dash in :22.62, senior Francisque Pierre-Jerome was seventh in the 60 dash in :07.06 and freshman Lucas Shumate was eighth in the 35-pound weight throw iwith a heave of 50' 2".
The distance medley relay team of freshman Andrew Harden, junior James Rader, sophomore Dan Sowa and sophomore William Huddleston placed seventh in 10:43.33.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday at the Capital Classic.
