DELPHOS - Ada senior guard Taylor Willeke received 132 of a potential 135 first-place points to run away with the award as Northwest Conference Player of the Year in voting conducted by the league's girls basketball coaches in the yearly selection meeting Monday at Delphos Jefferson.
A versatile 5-7 guard, Willeke averaged team-best totals of 16.4 points, 3.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game. She also pulled down 5.2 rebounds per outing to lead Ada to its best conference finish in years at 7-2, good enough for a second-place tie in the NWC with Lincolnview.
Allen East junior Kaycee Rowe, the only repeat member of the all-league first team, finished second in voting for 2012-13 Player of the Year voting with 114 points.
Willeke and Rowe were joined on the All-NWC first team by Crestview sophomore Lindsey Motycka, senior Katie Dye of Lincolnview and LCC junior Meredith Shepherd.
Ada 5-8 sophomore post Tori Wyss, who led the 13-9 Bulldogs in rebounding and was second in scoring, topped the all-league second team.
AE senior Morgan Truex and Mustang sophomore Carly Clum were voted honorable mention All-NWC.
Greg Rickard, who led Crestview to the league crown with a perfect 9-0 record, was selected as the NWC Coach of the Year.
