ADA, OH - Head coach Brent Ridenour earned his 200th career victory as the No. 12 Ohio Northern men's soccer team used two quick goals from senior Nate Bascom to defeat Franklin (Ind.) 3-1 Friday afternoon at the ONU Soccer Field.

The Polar Bears are now 6-1-0 on the season while the Franklin Grizzlies fall to 0-6-0.

Franklin was the first team to get on the board as Austin Fundenberger took a pass from Ryan Sullivan to score his first goal of the season in the 18th minute.

Bascom would score two goals in less than a minute to put Northern on top for good.

First, in the 36th minute, he took a pass from senior Cameron Johnson and put it in the net to tie things up at 1-1.

Then, in the very next minute, junior Jeremy Barnes took control of the ball and passed it to Bascom who scored his second goal to put the Polar Bears in front 2-1.

This was Bascom's team-high ninth goal of the season.

After coming out of halftime with a 2-1 lead, senior Chris Matejka passed the ball to junior Austin Windsor who fired a bending shot into the upper left corner of the net in the 52nd minute.

This was Windsor's second goal on the season and Matejka's second assist.

Senior goalkeeper Mac Church (6-1-0) earned his sixth win of the season by making five saves in the match. He now has 22 saves on the season.

Franklin goalie, Lucas Hill, (0-6-0) made an impressive 10 saves on the day, giving him 35 on the season.

"Franklin came out hot and ready to play," said Ridenour. "It was important that we responded before halftime. I challenged our guys to win the second half."

Ridenour now has a record of 200-88-24 in 15 years of coaching.

Ohio Northern took 24 shots with 13 of them being on goal while Franklin took 10 shots with six of them being on goal.
