COLUMBUS GROVE — Columbus Grove moved a step closer to repeating its Northwest Conference championship from a year ago with a 59-26 win over Allen East Thursday night.

With the win, the Bulldogs moved to 6-1 in the NWC, tied for the top spot with Spencerville. Grove (11-8) closes out conference play Thursday with Ada. Allen East dropped to 2-6 in the conference and 10-9 overall.

Columbus Grove took control of this game early outscoring the Mustangs 18-9 in the first quarter. A 23-3 run by the Bulldogs in the second quarter gave them a 41-12 halftime lead.

Carlee McCluer paced the Bulldogs with a game high 23 points as she hit five three-pointers. Lauren Schroeder added 11 points and had six assists, while Rylee Sybert had 10 points and five rebounds. Angel Schneider ripped down seven rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Lauren Criblez had nine points for the Mustangs.
