DELPHOS - Ada sophomore third baseman/pitcher Ashley Sumner was named second team All-Northwest Conference in softball Monday evening in voting conducted by the league coaches at Delphos.
Sumner led Ada in pitching wins with seven as the Lady Bulldogs posted a 12-9 record and finished 1-7 in the NWC, good for eighth place in the nine-team NWC. She also was one of the team's top hitters.
Senior catcher Ashley Windle and senior outfielder Alexis Gonzaga each earned honorable mention notice.
Crestview senior pitcher/infielder Kirstin Hicks was named NWC Player of the Year, edging out junior Hope Schroeder of Columbus Grove and senior Erin Conkle of Allen East for the top honor.
Hicks batted .475 with six home runs and 42 runs batted in to lead the Lady Knights to another league title. She also was 9-4 as a pitcher.
Crestview coach Carl Etzler was named NWC Coach of the Year after leading the Lady Knights to an outright league crown with an 8-0 record.
