ADA - Versailles easily won the girls track and field team title while Bluffton captured the boys crown at the 16-team, 53rd annual Ada Invitational Saturday at War Memorial Stadium.
Ada finished a solid sixth out of 16 girls squads, while the Bulldog boys came in ninth out of 15 schools.
The Lady Bulldogs scored 45.5 points to finish just three points out of third place in a closely-packed field. Only six points separated the teams in third through eighth place on the girls side as the upper middle part of the field was fairly even after Versailles (123 points) and second-place Spencerville (62.5).
The Allen East girls finished eighth with 42.5 points. USV took 12th with 31 points. Ram speedster Brittany Holbrook won the 100 and 200 meter dashes, as well as the high jump, to score 30 points herself.
Ada sophomore Carlee Marshall won the long jump at 15-10.
On the male side, Bluffton out-pointed LCC 111-86 to win the title. USV came in a solid fifth with 53.5 points. Ada 37 to come in just ahead of 10th-place AE, with 27.
Bulldog senior Matthew Wilcox came in second in the 400 meters with a time of 50.86.

Ada and AE will compete at the annual Northwest Conference meet in Spencerville May 15 and 17. Competition starts Thursday at 4:30 p.m. and resumes Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
