LIBERTY CENTER - Despite having four of its six runners post personal-bests at the district meet Saturday in Liberty Center, the Ada cross country team came up just shy of sending the squad on to the Youngstown regionals.

But Tristan Armbrecht qualified as an individual. He paced the Ada running attack by finishing 12th in 17:26 to earn an automatic trip to Youngstown.

"The boys ran exceptionally well; Mitchell (Wilcox), Jon (Robey), Austin (Windle) and Hunter (Allen) posted pr's. Matt came in about the same time as last week and Tristan was dealing with a stomach issue commonly referred to as the butterflies," said coach Don Robey.

As a team Ada finished eighth out of 14 with 197 points, 41 behind fifth place Edgerton with 156 points. The winner of the Division III district was Archbold with 54 points. The individual race winner was Sam Williamson of Antwerp in 16:25. The top four teams and top 16 individuals advanced to regionals.

"Individually I thought the boys ran well and I honestly thought 18:05 would get Mitch to regionals, but it was (only) good for 23rd," said Robey. "Jon finished right behind in 28th with 18:12, Austin was 49th with 18:59, Matt finished 92nd with 26:42 and Hunter broke the thirty-minute mark with 9:43. "We will try to get Tristan to run a personal record Saturday and get under 17, and hopefully advance to state."

The top 16 individuals advance to the state meet. Armbrecht runs at 11 a.m. Saturday at Boardman High School in Youngstown.
