TIFFIN - The Ada boys 4 x 200 relay squad finished first at the Div. III regional track and field meet in Tiffin Friday to lead five Bulldogs to state qualification.

The quartet of senior Russell Gray, junior Matthew Wilcox, senior Kellen Decker and senior Micah Roberson took first in a time of 1:30.26 to finish first.

The foursome had come in third in the preliminary heat with a time of 1:32.22 but improved on that time by almost two seconds to win.

Junior speedster Brittney Archer also made it to state in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Archer came in third in the 200 meter finals with a time of 25.79. She had been fifth in the prelims in 25.93. Archer came in fourth in the 100 in 12.75, nosing out Brittany Holbrook of USV for the last spot in the state meet. She was third in the 100 prelims in 12.73.

Matthew Wilcox also made it to state by finishing third in the 400 meters in 50.74. Wilcox was third in the prelims in 50.66.

A top four finish in any regional event qualifies for the state meet in Columbus at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Several other Bulldogs participated in the regional meet but missed making it to state.

Roberson finished fifth in the 200 meters in 23.03 to narrowly miss state qualification. He ran a 22.94 in the prelim heat to place sixth.

Roberson also came in eighth in the long jump (19-9.5).

The Ada boys 4 x 400 relay foursome also barely missed making it to state. The team of junior Spencer Archer, senior Jon Robey, sophomore Mitchell Wilcox and Matthew Wilcox finished fifth in the finals in 3:30.61. Allen East won the 4 x 400 relay race.

The Bulldog boys 4 x 100 relay squad of Gray, sophomore Luke Long-Green, Roberson and senior Levi Klingler came in eighth in 45.91 after qualifying seventh in the prelims (45.12).

Senior Morgan Rouch finished ninth in the 800 meters in 2:25.8. She also

anchored the 4 x 800 relay team that finished ninth in 10:36.59 with

sophomores Terra Hunter, Gabby Linnon and Lindsay Walden.

Mitchell Wilcox came in 10th in the 800 meters in 2:02.83.

Junior Tristan Armbrecht came in 11th in the 1600 meters in 4:47.22.

Junior Austin Dumbaugh also ended up 11th in the discus with a best throw

of 121-9.

The Ada boys 4 x 800 relay foursome of Mitchell Wilcox, Armbrecht,

sophomore Dylan Hannah and Robey finished 12th in 8:53.11.

Columbus Grove won the regional boys team title with 75 points, followed closely by Liberty-Benton (72). Ada came in 11th in the 35-team field with

26 points. Allen East was 20th with 10 points.

Van Buren grabbed the girls regional crown with 53 points. Gibsonsburg took second with 46 points. Ada ended up 20th (11) and AE was 31st (6).

The state meet will be held at the Owens venue in Columbus Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8. Div. III running event preliminaries will be held Friday starting at 9:30 a.m. The Div. III running event finals will begin Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

Ada junior Danny Klingler will also compete in the 100 and 400 meters wheelchair events.
