KALIDA - The Ada cross country team had an excellent showing at the

12-team Wildcat Invitational held in Kalida this weekend.

The Bulldog boys finished fifth overall out of 12 teams, and came in first

among the small school contingent.

"We had five out of six boys run for personal records, so we are getting a

lot closer to where we want to be for districts," said coach Donald Robey.

"We ran against two NWC teams and beat both soundly, so that was good."

Tristan Armbrecht was Ada's top finisher at 18:02, good for seventh

overall in the 95-runner field.

"I would like to see him run more consistently at 17:30," said Robey. "He

needs to run at that time to have a good shot at state.

The rest of the finishers each posted personal-best timess, led by

Mitchell Wilcox in 18:27 for 13th place.

Jonathen Robey finished 17th in 18:33, Austin Windle came in 45th in

20:16, Matt Higgins ended up 93rd in 27:58 and Hunter Allen finished 94th

in 31:43.

St. Marys was the overall team winner and Matias Trampe-Kindt

from O-G was the individual winner in a time of 17:03.

The Bulldogs next run Saturday, October 6 at Anna. "There will be a ton of

fast runners and strong teams at Anna," Robey offered. "We will need some

more PR's in order to have a good showing there"

Ada will then compete October 8 at the Hardin County meet in

Kenton. Robey feels the Bulldogs will be the favorites to win the county

meet, where he hopes the 'Dogs can take the top four individual spots.
