Ada boys clinch playoff spot, move up to first in region

ADA - With its 17-0 win over Delphos Jefferson Friday, the undefeated Ada football team clinched its seventh consecutive playoff berth and also moved into first place in the Div. VI, region 24 computer rankings for the first time.The Bulldogs (9-0) will host a first round game Nov. 2 against an opponent yet to be determined. Seven of the eight spots in the region 24 playoffs have been clinched.
Only eighth-place Waynesfield (4-5), ninth-place Dayton Jefferson Township (5-3), 10th-place South Charleston Southeastern Local (5-4) and 13th-place Hamilton New Miami (5-4) have a chance to get the last spot. Waynesfield will clinch a spot if they beat Dayton Christian in week 10, but the DC Warriors sport a 9-0 record. Fort Loramie (7-2) is second in the region.
Defending state champion Marion Local (7-2), who eliminated Ada 41-14 in the second round last fall, ranks third in region 24, followed by fellow MAC teams Minster (7-2) and St. Henry (6-3) in fourth and fifth, respectively.
Others in the region who have made it to the playoffs are Bradford and Lewisburg Tri-County North, whom Ada crushed in the first round last year. The Bulldogs have now made the post-season eight times in program history, each year from 2006-12 under head coach Mike Fell, and back in 1994 for coach Mike Vicars. Fell is 68-16 in seven seasons at Ada. The Bulldogs are 9-7 all-time in the playoffs, and 9-6 under Fell.
Ada hosts fellow unbeaten LCC Friday in the regular season finale with the Northwest Conference title and first seed in the region on the line.
