Takin' the Road Less Traveled is a life philosophy that means making the hard decisions for the right reasons. Sometimes it is the hard road that brings about the best results. For example, it is easier to buy a new video game than to discuss emotional issues with a teenager but talking heals more wounds that electronics or how quick it is to toss your trash in one pile, when it will extend our earth's resources if we make time to sort and recycle. Each week my column topic usually stems from something happening in my life that is related to the concept of Takin' the Road Less Traveled.
This year a new door has opened for me, and I have a unique and exciting opportunity ahead. This opportunity also is meant for the whole Ada community. I have been selected by Girl Scouts of America to lead our local Girl Scouts in a community wide project to bring positive to change to Ada. Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. More than 59 million American women enjoyed Girl Scouting during their childhood-and that number continues to grow as Girl Scouts of the USA continues to inspire, challenge, and empower girls everywhere.
An elite group of local Girl Scouts will identify and develop a project that will benefit our town. I want to know what you the Ada Herald reader feels that Ada needs most. Recycling? Youth activities? Fire safety? Animal control? Something else?
I have lived in Ada for 10 years now. To my little girls this is home. It is a cozy little town filled with people from all backgrounds who come together to give it life. This project holds a special place in my heart, and it is an honor to be apart of not only the Girl Scouts but also to bring an exciting community project to Ada.
Please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and share your thoughts on "what does Ada wish for" so that we can review the community's ideas while planning and developing our project. Also if you would like to be apart of this community project please let me know that as well...The actions we take today equal the changes we seek for tomorrow!
