LAFAYETTE - William L. May, 88, died on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at 3:16 a.m., at Richland Manor Nursing Home, in Bluffton. Born May 12, 1924, in Morrow County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Oscar B. May and the late Inez M. (Bedford) May.
He served in the Army from 1943 until 1946. He was a Veteran of World War II.
William married Charlotte Clay on Aug. 11, 1958, in West Virginia, and she preceded him in death. He worked at ExCello Corporation as a machinist and was in the first graduating class of the new Allen East High School. He was the past commander and current trustee at the Ada VFW 9381; a member of the Eagles, Ada Senior Citizens, and president of the ExCello Union Retirees Club. He enjoyed playing on the computer, camping and traveling.
Surviving are five sons, David (Mary Rose) May, Perry May, Tom (Debbie) Wallace, Bob (Tammy) Wallace, and Randy Wallace, Ron (Teresa) Conrad, Rick (Cindy) Conrad; two daughters, Sheila Wallace, and Brenda (Lyle) Schick; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister Marie (Welch), of Florida; and a special lady friend, Helen McPheron. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
