HARROD - Roger "Mack" Arthur, 87, died at 3:02 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health Systems. He was born July 24, 1926, in Lewistown, to the late Howard R. and Ethel (Naylor) Arthur. On June 6, 1975, he married Delores "Dee" Gerig Hawk, who survives in Harrod.

Mack was a 1944 graduate of New Hampshire High School in New Hampshire, Ohio, where he played basketball and baseball for 4 years. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving in Trieste, Italy, in the 88th Calvary. He was the Commander's personal driver.

Mack worked for the Auglaize County Farm Bureau for 13 years in Waynesfield and Uniopolis. He was CEO and Manager of the Allen County Farm Bureau in Harrod. Mack retired from Scot Lad Foods in 1989 after 23 years. Mack was a people person, who loved meeting new people, telling stories, gardening and all sports, especially baseball.

Mack was blessed with four children; Dennis R. (Laura) Arthur, of Harrod, Carol (Steve) Clum, of Lima, Deborah (Lee) Yoakam, of Harrod, and Barbara Jo "Jodi" (Steve) Gudakunst, of Lima; six stepchildren, Robert J. (Cindy L.) Hawk, of Grove City, Jenelle (Chuck) Griesinger, of Grove City, Bonnie (Michael) Lenhart, of Celina, Lynette (Jerry) Gerace, of Grove City, Keith S. (Daphne) Hawk, of Grove City, and Dennis A. Hawk, who preceded him in death; 23 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Vaude Arthur Hubbell and her husband Ralph; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by six brothers, Ralph (Neva) Arthur, Wilson (Ruth) Arthur, Herschel (first wife Susan, second wife Hazel) Arthur, Verne Arthur, Gerald (Mickey) Arthur, and Ronald "Dick" Arthur; two sisters, Wava "Bonnetta" (Harry) Cummings, and Georgia "Maxine" (Melvin) Hedrick; two infant sisters; and ex-wife, Pauline Wingate Arthur.

Services will begin at 11 a.m., on Thursday Oct. 3, 2013, at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Eastside Chapel. Burial will be in Lafayette Cemetery. Pastor Patrick Allen will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by VFW #1275 and the United States Army. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m., and 6 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at the funeral home.
