DELAWARE, OHIO - Lily "Riri" Herman Smith, 85, of Delaware, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 in the Arbors At Delaware.

She was born Nov. 2, 1927 in Allen, Ky., to Samuel and Della (Hughes) Jarrell.

She was a retired librarian at Ohio Northern University and the University of Kentucky Medical School.

Lily was a lover of quilt making, flower gardening, and creating beautiful Christmas trees. Her greatest joys were nature, music, poetry, talking to people, and her children.

She is survived by her son, Steven (Nancy) Herman, of Mt. Gilead; her daughters, Elizabeth Herman (Randall) Ferrell, of Wrentham, Mass., and Gay Herman (Ronald) Preston, of Delaware; a grandson, Charlie (Misty) Herman, of Edenton, N.C.; great granddaughters, Alyssa and Alexis Herman, of Edenton, N.C.; a brother, Reg Jarrell, of Munith, Mich., and a sister-in-law, Wanda Jarrell of Delaware.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Burns Jarrell and Joe Jarrell, and sisters, Bertha Cox, Dorothy Bentley, Lizzie Sammons and Nell White.

Also, preceded in death by her beloved dog, Lizzie.
