MACKINAW CITY, Mich. - Lenora M. Peppler, 86, of Mackinaw City, Mich., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at McLaren-Northern Michigan Hospital, in Petoskey, Mich. The oldest of three children of Wirley and Mildred (Schneider) Stilwell, who predeceased her, Lenora was born on May 15, 1926, in Cheboygan County, Mich.
Lenora is survived by her two sons, William D. (Patty) Peppler, of Mackinaw City, and Brian A. (Camela Yeck) Peppler, of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.; her grandchildren Cory (Beth) Peppler, Niki (Brent) Rudolph, Kortney (Paul Whitney) Peppler and Kelsey Peppler; and four great-grandchildren, Zachary and Alexander Peppler, and Amelia and Tess Rudolph. Besides her parents, Lenora was preceded in death by her husband William D. Peppler, her daughter Diane Peppler, her sister Patricia Harnish and her brother William Stilwell.
Lenora was an accomplished artist and potter. She was community minded and volunteered with various organizations. She followed LSSU Laker hockey, the Red Wings and Tigers and enjoyed golfing, gardening, crafting and baking.
But above all else, Lenora opened her home and heart to all, with a special place for the young men and women that crossed her path and found their "Mom" away from home.
A memorial service will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Mackinaw City on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at 11 a.m., with the family greeting friends one hour prior to the service. Sister Chris Herald will officiate. A luncheon at St. Anthony's Parish Life Center will immediately follow the service. All of her friends and family are invited to come and share in the joy she brought to so many for all these years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lenora's name may be made to the Diane Peppler Resource Center in Sault Ste Marie, Mich. Envelopes will be available at the church. Those wishing to sign an online register book are invited to do so at www.stonefuneralhomeinc.com.
Arrangements are being handled by the Nordman-Christian Funeral Home in Cheboygan, Mich.
