LAFAYETTE — Jean North Kinsey, 85, of Lafayette, and formerly of Ocala, Florida and Kenton, passed away at Lima Memorial Hospital on Dec. 26, 2016.

Jean was born in Van Wert on Oct. 20, 1931 to the late Loren and Margaret Ann (Davies) North. She married Richard Lee Kinsey on June 10, 1951 and he preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by her grandson Hayden Thomas Reiman.

She is survived by three children, Jeffrey (Andrea) Kinsey of Pompano Beach, Florida, Pamela (Dana) Staley of Harrod, and Nancy (Doug) Sorgen of Belle Center. Jean is also survived by six grandchildren - Ryan Staley, Mason Staley, Hannah Holmes, Natashia Kinsey, Alexia Kinsey, Clarissa Coker and 16 great grandchildren.

Jean graduated from Convoy High School, Lima Technical College of Nursing and was certified in Healing Touch Therapy. In 1954 she and Richard bought Mickle Cleaners. In 1975 they opened Jerry’s Pizza in Kenton and Ada. She also pursued her nursing career at 42 years of age and went on to practice her love of caring for others in many capacities. Her career included North Electric Plant Nurse, The Corinthian Nursing Home, Hardin Memorial Hospital, The Hardin County Health Department, The Hardin County Home, Marion General Hospital - Psychiatric Unit, Yale Psych Institute in Connecticut, Broward County Florida Corrections Facilities, and Broward County Florida Home Health.

Jean was an active member of Beta Rho Sorority, Jester’s Club, Bridge Club, and Tennis Club of Kenton, as well as numerous organizations in Ocala, Florida. She was an avid tennis player, golfer, and loved watching the Ohio State Buckeyes. Besides her love of sports, she was an excellent seamstress and knitter, sharing her Christmas stockings knitted with love to so many friends and family. Jean loved music, gardening, dancing and with great enthusiasm she cheered on her grandchildren and great grandchildren in all of their activities.

A celebration of Life Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Kenton, on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 11 a.m.
