ADA - Ellis L. Jenkins, 73, died at 4:24 a.m., on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at his residence. He was born Sept. 28, 1940, in Boswell, Okla., to Curtis M. & Sylvia (Stafford) Jenkins, who preceded him in death. On Sept. 24, 2004, he married Doreen (Grant) Manley Burkholder, who survives in Ada.

Ellis retired from Ford Motor Company, Lima Engine Plant, in 2003 after over 30 years of service. Mr. Jenkins was a motorcycle enthusiast, who loved traveling the country on his Harley Davidson and telling stories about his adventures. Ellis enjoyed learning about and was proud of his Cherokee heritage. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and spoiling his canine companions, Casper and Katy.

Survivors include, daughter, Michele (David Goodwin) Fraser, of Delphos; son, Curtis E. Jenkins, of Ada; daughter, Ronda K. Davis, of Cairo; seven grandchildren, Elisa, Danielle, Amber, Kristen, Sean, Kayle, and Megan,; stepson, Michael A. (Lynn) Manley, of Huntsvill; stepdaughter, Christine L. (Steven) Adams, of Lima; step daughter, Sarah J. (Andy) Aho, of Katy, Texas; stepson, Matthew A. Burkholder, of Columbus; five stepgrandchildren, Haley, Derek, Nathan, Lauren, and Evan; and sister, Nadine. He was preceded in death by daughter, Shirlene Jenkins; grandson, Jason McIntosh; four brothers, Lonny, Donny, William, and Curtis Jenkins; and exwife, Marilyn (Stoddard) Jenkins.

Services will begin at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at Chiles-Laman Funeral and Creation Services, Shawnee Chapel. Pastor Richard Rakay will officiate. Burial will be in Cairo East Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., on Monday, Oct. 14, at the funeral home.
