CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Carolyn N. Cole, 78, of Chapel Hill, N.C., formerly of Ada, died at 10:55 a.m., on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, in Chapel Hill. She was born Nov. 21, 1933, in Ada, to George Lee and Phoeba Pauline (Businger) Rayl who preceded her in death. Carolyn was married to Robert "Bob" Cole for over 61 years and he survives in Chapel Hill.
Carolyn retired after teaching at Bath Elementary School for sixteen years. She was a former member of the Ada First United Methodist Church, and Ada Quatre Club. She was a graduate of Ada High School and The Ohio State University.
Survivors include two sons, Michael (Ingrid) Cole, of Hanover, N.H., and Charles (Robin) Cole, of Simpsonville, S.C.; two daughters, Christina (Stewart) Graham, of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Melanie (David) Vandermast, of Chapel Hill, N.C.; one brother, Ron (Amy) Rayl, of Marietta, Ohio; and one sister, Martha (Dwayne) Rife, of Boise, Idaho; thirteen grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m., on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Rev. Mary Jo Yeakel officiating.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., on Sunday, Nov. 11, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home.
