ADA - Betty Jo Sherman, 78, died at 6:10 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at Richland Manor Nursing Home, Bluffton. She was born Sept. 27, 1934, in Hardin County, to Carl B. and Rhea (McElroy) Gardner who preceded her in death.
She first married Grover Boutwell, they divorced and he preceded her in death in 1975. She then married Billy L. Sherman on June 13, 1973, and he survives in Ada.
Betty was a homemaker. She was a member of the Living Faith Ministries in Mendon, Ohio; a life member of the Ada VFW Post 9381 Women's Auxiliary; and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Post 3003 Ladies Auxiliary of Findlay.
Surviving are three sons, Grover Dean Boutwell, of Roundhead, Terry (Dana) Boutwell, and Kenny (Angie) Sherman, both of Ada; three daughters, Ann (Gary) Miller, of Harrod, Donna Hefner, of LaFayette, and Monica (Clark) Slater, of Linwood, Mich.; two brothers, Robert (Susan) Gardner, of Columbus Grove, and Larry (Pat) Crist, of Bluffton; fourteen grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one son, Michael Boutwell; one son-in-law, Nathan Hefner; and one brother Donald Gardner.
It was Betty's request to be cremated and have a private family service held at a later date.
