DENHAM SPRINGS, La., — Betty B. Harps, 93, formerly of Shawnee, Ohio, died in the early morning on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at her residence in Denham Springs, La. She was born on Aug. 11, 1920, in Beaverdam, to John and Hazel (Young) Mort and they preceded her in death. On Nov. 22, 1937, she married Earl B. Harps and he survives in Denham Springs, La.

Betty previously worked as a school bus driver for Shawnee Schools and R.G. Dunn Cigar Factory, in Lima. She retired from McDonald's Restaurant in Denham Springs, La., after working for 28 years. She was a member of the St. Mathews Lutheran Church, of Shawnee. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars, of Lima.

Also surviving are a daughter, Judy (Tom) Williams, of Ada; a son-in-law, Tom Walker, of Denham Springs, La; nine grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Debra Ann Ott and Saundra “Sonnie” Walker; a grandson, Terry Williams; a great-grandson, Terry Lee Williams, Jr.; and four brothers, Dwight, Kenneth, Eber and Waldo Mort.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, and until time of service on Friday at the funeral home.
