ADA - Albert R. "Bud" Garver, 86, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at 5:02 a.m., at Lima Memorial Health System. He was born on Feb. 10, 1927 in Marion County, Ohio, to the late Albert R. and Geneva (Hitchcock) Garver. On May 21, 1945, he married Mae Ann Evans and she died on Jan. 24, 2002. He later married Dorothy (Poe) Freund on Jan. 4, 2006 and she survives in Ada.
Bud was a welder for Superior Coach and General Dynamics, both of Lima, retiring in 1991. He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during WWII with the 301 NCB's.
Also surviving are two sons, Mark (Mary) Garver and Gregg (Deb) Garver, both of Ada; five daughters Maxine (David) Crawford, of Columbus Grove, JoAnn (Larry) Gullett, of Roundhead, Toni (Terry) Brite, of Ada, Robin (Backus) Wakim, of Miami Beach, Fla., and Lisa (J.B.) Risner, of Ada; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and a brother Morgan (Joie) Garver of Charlotte, NC.
He was preceded in death by a stillborn son, Ronald Eugene in 1947; two brothers, Richard Garver and Clarence Garver; and five sisters, Agnes Robsich, Shirley Garver, Donnabelle Stinhelfer, Betty Schultz and Irene Richendollar.
A funeral service was held on Monday, Oct. 7, 2013, at Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, with Rev. Randy Davis and Rev. David Young officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada with graveside military rites conducted by the Ada VFW Post #9381 Honor Guard.
