HARDIN COUNTY - The HHWP Community Action Commission and the Ohio Benefit Bank are looking for volunteers to help those who need assistance preparing their basic returns but cannot afford to pay a preparer.

Volunteer training is scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., on Nov. 26 and 28, in Findlay, and volunteers must attend both sessions. As a volunteer, you will receive training on the Ohio Benefit Bank tax software and all of the necessary materials to help people with low and moderate incomes file their federal and Ohio individual income tax returns at no cost to them. You will not be required to sign the returns.

OBB sites use computers to prepare and electronically transmit (e-file) tax returns; therefore, the ability to read and a familiarity with basic computer functions is required. Volunteers must be age 18 or older.

Once volunteers are trained, they are certified by OBB. Volunteers are needed for Kenton and Ottawa. For more information on the volunteer training, contact Amber Hirt, Ohio Benefit Bank Coordinator with HHWP Community Action Commission, via email at ahirt@hhwpac.com or call 419-423-3755. Volunteers can also register online at www.ow.ly/feafF.
