DUNKIRK - After 47 years in the fire service, Chief James B. Steele, of Dunkirk, has retired from the Northern Hardin County Fire District, Station 4.

His service includes 25 years as a fire instructor teaching local, county, and state fire fighters. Steele started in the fire service in 1965 with the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department. He has served as chief of Station 4, of the Northern Hardin County Fire District, since 2002.
