HARDIN COUNTY - The Hancock Hardin Wyandot Putnam Community Action Commission Head Start Policy Council is in need of volunteers from the community to become members of their Policy Council. This council is a special governing board, similar to a board of directors, made up of Head Start parents and members of the community.Community representatives are elected to one-year terms that run from October through September. Policy Council meets montly from September to May and as needed in the summer months. There are openings for representatives in Hanock, Hardin, Wyandot and Putnam counties. A representative must live or work in the county they represent.
Policy Council is an important part of the Head Start program as the council's members are given the opportunity to govern and shape the local Head Start program.
Head Start, a program of the HHWP CAC, offers preschool services at no fee to the family. The program provides educational services to prepare children for kindergarten, child and family literacy, health and nutrition services, parent engagement, and social services for children and families. Families that have children with special needs are encouraged to apply to the program.
