HARROD - Third, fourth, and fifth grade students left Allen East Schools Friday pumped up and ready for the Ohio Achievement Assessment tests they will take next week. A pep rally, organized by elementary staff members Jennifer Treglia and Corey Zimmerly, was held on Friday afternoon to get the students energized and encourage them to do their best on the week-long series of tests.

The pep rally featured speaker Joanna Snyder, ONU Women's Basketball standout, who gave a speech to the students about how to be successful in life. Snyder has been student-teaching at Allen East High School. She will graduate from ONU in May and will begin her teaching career at Ada High School next fall.

A little fun was planned along with the encouraging speeches made by Snyder, Coach Mike Abbey, and Guidance Counselor Steve Smith. Students cheered on their fellow classmates in a class competition featuring a scooter relay, an exercise ball relay, and a tug-of-war contest with the fifth grade teachers.

At the end of the pep rally, Treglia reminded students of the various ways they could earn tickets for a chance to win one of the many prizes that were donated by sponsors of the event. A raffle for the prizes will take place on Friday, May 4.
