COLUMBUS - In preparation for the upcoming Fourth of July holiday, Ohio along with neighboring states: Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan will focus on commercial vehicles transporting fireworks and hazardous material.

The multi-state commercial enforcement initiative commenced on Sunday, June 23 and will run through Saturday, June 29. In Ohio, motor carrier enforcement inspectors and specially trained troopers will be performing Level 1 and Level 2 inspections focusing on the authorized and safe transportation of fireworks and hazardous material.

"Commercial motor vehicle safety and the safe transportation of hazardous or explosive materials in Ohio is a top priority," said Colonel John Born, Patrol superintendent.
