ADA - The Board of Trustees of the Ada Public Library met on Monday, Jan. 7, for their first regular meeting of the new year. Members Connie Fleming, Sharon Music, Michael Hurtig, along with Library Treasurer Janet Klingler and Director Amanda Bennett, were present. The first order of business was the approval of the fiscal officer's report. The library ended 2012 on a positive note, despite making updates to the interior lights and repairs to the spouting on building. A successful Holiday Auction raised $1300 that Bennett would like to see used on updating the computers throughout the library.
The library's Music Collection is officially open. Patrons can borrow cd's for three weeks and fines for overdue returns will be levied at the rate of $.50 per day per cd. The library is also taking donations of new or gently used cd's to add to the collection.
Bennett has been busy making plans to re-energize library patronship since joining the staff this past summer. Updating the website, weeding out the out of date reading materials, and starting new book clubs are only a few of the things the library has recently done under her leadership.
As they look to the future, the Ada Public Library hopes to replace and update the computers throughout the library, both for patron and staff use.
For the younger readers, the Tween Book Club, for those age nine through 12, continues this winter, and plans are already in the works for an exciting Summer Reading program.
The next meeting of the Ada Public Library Board of Trustees will be held on Monday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m., in the library meeting room.
