ADA — Firefighters from several different departments have been on the scene of a fire at the First United Methodist Church on Main St. in Ada since late this morning. The fire quickly spread throughout the long-time Ada landmark as fire departments from surrounding communities were called to the scene to assist the Ada Fire Department. Ladder trucks from the Kenton and Bluffton were assisting at the scene as well. Firemen also were forced to battle a house fire across the street as the intense heat from the fire damaged several houses directly across from the church.
Main Street in Ada is closed to through traffic and police were busy keeping the large number of people coming downtown a safe distance from the fire. Check back as more details become available
