The 104th Annual Farmers & Merchants Picnic will be held on Saturday, August 12. This year the F&M board has decided to hold the event on Saturday only in an attempt to regain footing lost due to last year’s bad weather. While the picnic will only be one day, the day will be jam packed with community fun.
The day begins with an OWHA horse show at 8am that includes contest, halter and performance classes. At 9:30am the parade will begin on West Lincoln and journey to the Ada War Memorial Park where the welcome flag will be raised at 10:30am. Next the crowning of the 2017 F&M Prince and Princess will take place. The boy and girl who sells the most raffle tickets will win.
Those who purchase tickets have a chance to win one of seven grand prizes. The raffle prizes are as follows: 1st prize - $700 cash, 2nd prize - Smoker Grill, 3rd prize - His/Hers Bikes from Keith’s Hardware, 4th prize - $200 Community Market Gift card, 5th prize - $100 Marathon gift card, 6th prize - Ada Sports Pass, 7th prize - A four-pack of Red’s Tickets. Winners do not need to be present to collect the seven big prizes. Hourly drawings will be done throughout the day and attendance is required to claim those prizes.
A well attended youth activity is the pedal tractor pull that starts at a.m. on the main stage. The pedal tractor pull is sponsored by the Ada Kiwanis Club. Numerous other activities are available all day. The Ada Rotary Club sponsors the ring toss. Free swim is offered at the Ada Pool thanks to the Ada Lions Club. Chain saw carving, casino wheel, bingo and a 4H petting zoo will be at the picnic as well.
